I think when someone really, actively listens to us we feel valued. When that person perhaps summarises what we're feeling, we feel validated, that our feelings matter. If you're struggling or feeling a bit lonely, that's a huge thing, that someone is there for you.

I come along each week with a craft or activity that I organise. I try to keep it different each week and accessible so that anyone can take part without feeling overwhelmed. We have some meaningful conversations around the craft table so it’s important to be welcoming and make it an inclusive place for all.

The pandemic seemed to really highlight how many people struggle with so many issues - loneliness, bereavement, health issues. Its hard to go through these things alone, and sometimes we need support.
Listening can help people feel less alone, just knowing someone will give you their full attention, not judge you, and give you space to talk things through.
